A.J. was born Andrew Joseph Dyk on August 27, 1982 to Mel and Cindy Dyk.  Named after his two grandfathers, Andrew Dyk and Edward Joseph Legere.  He joined three siblings that August day, Melanie, Melissa, and Matt.  Growing up in Thorp, Washington in an old farm house was something he was proud of.  You would often hear him comment that he lived in one house for 18 years, only moving out for college.

As a child, A.J. played t-ball and soccer.   In the summer months you would find him in the hay fields despite his asthma.  He enjoyed riding the three wheeler around the family farm.

He attended Morgan Middle School where he began to make close friendships that continued into Ellensburg High School.  Being involved in Kittitas Search and Rescue displayed his caring personality towards others.   He was also involved in FFA and especially enjoyed shop class.

Graduating with the class of 2001, was one of the happiest days of his life.  Each of us remember sitting at his graduation and seeing this HUGE smile.  He was glad to get out of there.   That fall he moved to Kennewick and attended Columbia Basin Community College where he enrolled in the welding program.  A.J. had plans of one day owning his own farm and continuing the farm life he so much enjoyed.

Remember Me
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore, Gazing at a beautiful sea--
Remember Me.
As you look in awe at a mighty
Forest and its grand majesty--
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
Your thoughts, And your memories
Of the times we cried, The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will have never gone.
